Greetings!
We are moving out of summer - a time of play, and into autumn - a time of preparing
to go within - a time of retreat. Ask most what they do to prepare for summer and
they will tell you they start to lose the extra pounds that snuck up during the
winter and prepare for wearing a bathing suit or they begin to work out more
consistently so they can be recreationally prepared. Ask most what they do to
prepare for the winter months and they usually say they don’t have a preparation
routine. I ask why not? Let’s take for a moment, a lesson from one of our wonderful
teachers – Mother Nature. A tree has its routine. A tree will lose its leaves in
the fall as it prepares for its winter retreat. What does a tree do in the winter?
A tree grows from within. Its trunk becomes larger and stronger. It conserves its
outer energy and places its attention on its inner energy. Ultimately, it is preparing
for its rebirth next spring. As with nature, going within has its benefits. It
gives us the time to reflect on where we have been, where we are now and where we
would like to see ourselves be in the near future. It gives us the time to let go
and release the old beliefs that no longer serve us and recognize the limitations that
we have placed on ourselves. We can take the time to forgive others that may have
appeared to harmed us or to forgive ourselves for harming others. Much can be done to
cleanse ourselves during the winter months in preparation for our rebirth in the
spring and summer.
The Kurama Institute of Natural Healing is offering an autumn Reiki retreat to
begin the preparation for the winter months. Please join us October 10-12, 2003
in the lovely and nurturing setting of Northern New Mexico’s Ojo Caliente Mineral
Springs. This retreat is open to all Reiki practitioners of all levels. Please
refer to our Events page for more information.
